The Sheila Davis Group was awarded the annual Val Perry Award at this year’s event. (L-R) Andy Holland, Melinda Lloyd, Sheila Davis, Michelle Sparks and Vicki Holland.
More than 400 members, donors, sponsors and volunteers attended this year’s Lake Lanier Association member celebration in early May. Held at Safe Harbor Aqualand Marina at Pig Tales lawn, the event included award recognitions, the announcement of the organization’s 60th Anniversary Gala, plus other upcoming events and projects.
This year’s Val Perry Business Sponsor Award was presented to the Sheila Davis Group, which has been a long-time supporter of the organization. The business has supported Shore Sweep as Captains of the Gainesville Marina Shore Sweep site, and Davis, a former board member, established membership recruitment and marketing initiatives for the organization during her term.
Bruce Longmore received the Charlie Spencer Volunteer Award. Longmore, franchise owner of Lenny’s Subs in Cumming, has helped feed the volunteers and has provided lunches for the association’s quarterly Lunch and Learn programs.
Attendees received the group’s 2026 Annual Report and learned about several upcoming events. Shore Sweep’s 2026 date is Saturday, September 19, and advance sites will be open two weeks before the event.
The group has planned its 60th Anniversary gala for November 12 at Lanier Islands to celebrate its milestone event.
