Past Pirates of Lanier Charity Poker Run fun.
This year’s Pirates of Lanier Charity Poker Run focuses on local boaters and families. Slated for September 26 at Margaritaville at Lanier Islands, it also has new management.
“This year’s event will focus on local boaters and families,” said Jeff Mogan, who is part of the committee for the Pirates of Lanier Charity Runs the organization managing the event. “We’re adding several elements of the Poker Run that will make it easier for northeast Georgia boaters to take part and we’re encouraging people to come out and join us.”
Boats registering for the event will be separated into classes, each assigned a separate start time. Additionally, there will be a separate start time and course for the go-fast boats that will take them on a longer course to Lake Lanier Olympic Park and back.
Boat classes include jet skis, pontoons, under-30 feet, over 30-feet, a cruising class and a go-fast class.
This year’s charities and hosts are Georgia K9 Search and Recovery, the Lake Lanier Association and other lake specific organizations and agencies.
“Lake Lanier is the focal point and we’ve selected lake-related organizations to be the benefactors,” Mogan said. “It’s all about the charities and having a safe and enjoyable time on the water.”
Mogan urges people to register online. “In fact, our website is the only official place to purchase tickets.”
