The performance Last Train to Nibroc takes place in December 1940, where an east-bound cross-country train carries May, a religious and bookish girl and Raleigh, a charming young flyer. Raleigh is heading to New York to be a writer but after discovering that he and may are from neighboring Appalachian towns he decides to change trains for Kentucky, promising to take May to the next Nibroc Festival.
