Join park staff, Georgia Appalachian Trail Club members, AT thru-hikers and legends for the annual AT hiker season kick-off. It includes programs on AT history & culture, foot care, nutrition, and more.
An annual event that has been held the first weekend in March for over 20 years, the rebranded A.T. Gateways will have something for everyone who loves the Appalachian Trail (A.T.) whether you are an aspiring thru-hiker or just someone who enjoys being on the trail and outdoors. Activities, programs, and demonstrations will be held at both the Lodge and the new Visitor Center.

2026 Gainesville/Hall Dragon Boat Challenge, Lake Lanier
Gainesville/Hall Dragon Boat Challenge is a community race event. 100% of the proceeds of this event goes to LCKC.
Teams of 11 paddlers ( 10-person + 1 drummer per dragon boat) compete. Businesses, clubs, churches and neighborhoods invited. Entry fee includes a 1.5 hr. practice session the weekend before races with trained steersperson: April 17th (evening), April 18th and 19th (day). All teams will have three, 200 meters races (2 heats and a final).
There is also an exciting distance race for Open and maybe some openings for a few other adventurous teams wanting to take part in racing for + – 2,000 meters.
