In early November, Lake Lanier Olympic Park was the location for the Atlanta Lantern Boat Festival. This event, sponsored by the Laotian American Society (LAS), celebrates the Laotian culture through outreach and education. Its themes of light and water symbolize renewal, hope, and the cleansing of negativity, offering participants a sense of optimism and community while fostering greater understanding and respect of the Laotian culture.
One of more than a dozen dance groups and performers who entertained the crowd, Davanh, performed for attendees who enjoyed dancing and listening to her music. The event drew several thousand to see dragon boat demos, visit dozens of vendors featuring food, clothing, jewelry, and sweets.
