18sep2:00 pmBat House Building Workshop/Walk/Talk - Sept 2021

Event Details

Bat House-Building Workshop (afternoon) / Beneficial Bat Walk & Talk (early evening), Mountain City

Bat house building workshop: Bat houses are a great way to provide a necessary place to roost for many species of local bats. Native bats spend their evenings eating insects, including mosquitoes, moths and other pests. Building and installing a bat house will encourage bats to roost near your home.

Beneficial Bat Walk & Talk: a family-friendly event to learn about bats and how beneficial they are to us. After the Q&A, we will walk to a nearby bat house or go on a guided walk outside using a bat detector and a special acoustic device that classifies bat calls to see if we can spot bats. There will also be kid-friendly activities.

Date: Saturday, September 18th, 2021

Time: Bat house building 2-4 pm; Bat walk & talk 6 – 7:30 pm

Location: Black Rock Mountain State Park, 3805 Black Rock Mountain Pkwy, Mountain City, GA

Cost: $10, plus $5 parking
