The 2022 Pirates of Lanier Charity Poker Run has raised more than $70,000 for five area children’s charities.

“While we don’t have all the numbers yet, our preliminary figures show close to $70,000,” said Richard Pickering, vice president of Lanier Partners, which organizes the annual event. “We had more than 200 boats participate from as far away as Texas and Michigan and all our slips for the weekend at Margaritaville were sold out.”

As in past years, all the event’s winners donated their cash prizes back to the organization.

Boats of all shapes and sizes were at this year’s Poker Run.

The event raises funds for children’s charities in Georgia, including Camp Sunshine, Camp Twin Lakes, Edmondson Telford Child Advocacy Center, Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier and the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes.

Donations are still being accepted at LanierPartners.org.
