Wakeboarder
opens business installing boat towers

It’s that extra height of the boat that makes all the
difference in a mediocre wake boarder and a great one. Kyle McCall
should know; he’s been skiing and wakeboarding since he can
remember, first mastering water skiing, then at age 12 he got his
first wakeboard.
Today, the 22-year-old is riding his sport to a new
level by opening New Wake Solutions, specifically to install
wakeboard towers on boats at Lanier, Allatoona and Hartwell.
“At first I used a skurfer – a cross between skis and
a surf board – then I got my first wakeboard,” he said. “I’m not as
great as the real competitors, but I have a good time, and I found
out that putting a tower on a boat can really help the learning
curve.”
His mobile installation business travels to private
homes and to marinas. He lives in Marietta but is promoting his new
business across the northern part of the state.
“We’ve installed on all kinds of boats, even fishing
boats,” he said. “It opens up a whole new market. All you need is a
boat with a wake. It’s a great opportunity to get into the sport
affordably.”
New Wake Solutions is not the 20-something’s first
venture into business. He also owned a landscaping company for a
while.
“I’ve always wanted to work for myself,” he said. “I
noticed that I can do a lot of stuff myself and do it better, so I’m
bringing my services to the public. It’s a great feeling to be able
to use my ideas. There are no boundaries when you work for yourself
and I can take it as far as I want to go.”
As his business grows, McCall said he plans to offer
online shopping for towers. Of course, he’ll do the installation.
